Sex and gender in research (SAGER)
Authors of the journal are urged to follow the 'Sex and Gender Equity in Research—SAGER Guidelines and to incorporate any gender or sex issues when applicable. Authors should use the terms sex (a biological property) and gender (a social and cultural attribute) carefully to prevent misunderstandings. The title and/or abstract of an article should clearly indicate which sex(es) the study applies to. The literature review should also indicate whether gender and/or sex differences may occur, how gender and/or sex were taken into account in the study design, provide data disaggregated by sex and/or gender, and discuss the respective results. A rationale for not conducting a sex and/or gender analysis should be included in the “Discussion.” Please consult the full guidelines before submitting.
