Reconsider and transfer policies
Sometimes, after rejection, the authors request that the editors reconsider their decision. These requests are considered "appeals or reconsiderations,” which are placed at second priority as compared to the normal submissions.
Authors who disagree with an editorial judgment should get in touch with the journal's editorial office and send an email letter for reconsideration. In the email subject line and the letter of appeal, make sure to mention the manuscript tracking number.
The author’s request can be processed only if the editors are certain that there was an error in the initial judgment. The requested article will only be considered further if the reviewer made any significant technical error or in the presence of bias, but only if the outcome would have been different had the reviewer's conclusion been reversed. Likewise, factual disagreements need not be settled unless they would have changed the final judgment of whether to publish or not.
If the editors believe that an appeal is worthy of additional consideration, they may send the authors' response or the revised article to one or more reviewers, or they may ask one reviewer to comment on the issues expressed by another reviewer. Additional reviewers may be consulted on occasion, particularly if the editors believe that extra technical competence is required to reach a conclusion.
If the editors of JNL reject publishing an article before or after peer review, the authors can easily move it to another journal.
